What was proven
- ASL3/Asterisk 22 and SimpleUSB operational
- HTTP registration on a non-default IAX port
- AllScan web application installed
- Parrot 55553 passed
- Live East Coast Reflector QSO completed
A board normally found controlling a 3D printer becomes a fully working ASL3 and AllScan node—an unusual, capable, and genuinely fun alternative SBC build.
An unexpected second life
This inexpensive, feature-rich controller board became a complete ASL3 and AllScan system with a guided installation path for another operator to follow.
The board from every side
The CB1 module sits beneath the red heatsink. Ethernet, multiple USB ports, GPIO, flexible power inputs, and an inexpensive price make this printer-control platform an entertaining—and practical—AllStarLink experiment.

Project overview
An inexpensive, feature-rich printer-controller board repurposed as a proven AllStarLink node using the CB1 module, an AllScan UCI80 interface, and a checkpointed guided installer.
The USB communications interface supports simultaneous transmit and receive operation, making this a true full-duplex AllStarLink node—not merely a conventional simplex hotspot.
Known limitations
Complete release
The primary Build ZIP contains the manuals, guided installer, supporting files, and detailed instructions needed to build and prove the ASL3 and AllScan node.
Want even more capability? A separate, optional second-stage installer can add Allmon3 and Supermon 8+ alongside AllScan, giving you three complementary ways to monitor and control your node. It can also install a carefully selected DVSwitch engine, preparing this compact BIGTREETECH Pi for future digital-mode integration. Each addition is individually selectable, so you install only the features you want. The primary ASL3 installation remains unchanged, and DVSwitch stays safely stopped until the operator deliberately completes its configuration.
One download containing the operator documentation, guided installation scripts, supporting files, and verification material for this build.
DownloadA separate supplemental installer and user manual for adding individually selected Allmon3, Supermon 8+, and DVSwitch components after the primary ASL3 node has been installed and proven.
DownloadUse at your own risk. No warranty. Review the included START-HERE material before installation, follow the power-selection warning, and keep backups of your own configuration.
